#MySAFEGrantStory - The Byrd Family

"We are a one-income family as his father is a disabled veteran..."

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

“Our son has attended public school since kindergarten. He has been in the gifted and talented program since third grade, but has difficulties with social interactions and making friends.

He is a rising sixth grade student for the upcoming school year. With the uncertainty of what public school instruction and the overall experience is going to be like during this school year, we are turning to a small private Christian school to ensure that he will continue to grow, learn at his pace, and thrive through this pandemic, instead of allowing his educational experience to be affected by fear, uncertainty, and lack of thoughtful planning.

We are a one-income family as his father is a disabled veteran. The SAFE Grant would be instrumental in ensuring a quality education for my so without making it a financial hardship on the family.”
