The SAFE Grant would ease our financial struggle while my daughter continues her education at her school. She has been in private Christian school since kindergarten. I am a single parent. COVID-19 has affected our family’s finances adversely. I have been a South Carolina pubic school teacher since 1998. My yearly step increase was frozen during the last recession for over a year. It has been frozen again this year. During my teaching career, I have paid for supplies for my students and my classroom out of my own pocket. I don’t regret the 20+ years I have spent as a public school teacher because I believe education is one of the keys to making the world a better place. There is a misconception that parents of private school students are wealthy. Many of these parents sacrifice to send their children to private school.
