L.V.’s Story

I have two children ages 14 and 13. One is academically gifted while the other has a severe learning disability in dysgraphia and dyscalculia. We want our children together, however, the public system in our area is not very good or sufficient in handling his disability. The charter and magnet schools are either too hard to get into or my son doesn’t make the minimum grades because of his disability. Therefore we need to use private schooling to give him the attention he needs. This grant would go a long way to help support those efforts. Our only other choice which we are presently considering is moving our whole family from our current community to another one with a better public education system. We cannot afford the private schools here without some assistance as well.
