My husband passed away in April 2020. We have 4 biological and 3 adopted children. We chose for me to resign as a teacher, so my efforts would be used for the health, safety, and welfare of our family. For our youngest children’s safety, we chose to use an online charter school. Since my husband’s passing, I am finding a new means to support our family and protect my children. Our local school district is not willing to practice protocol in order to protect children, especially my highest risk children. For this reason, some of my children cannot attend the same schools. I need an alternative to traditional education and an alternative to online education. SAFE Grant was an opportunity for my youngest children to attend a safe learning environment while I work to provide an income and health insurance for my family.
