My children attended a private school last year. They both thrived and learned so much in the small setting. After I was laid off due to COVID, as well as my mother who helped with tuition, I was really worried about not being able to afford to send them back this school year. With all the uncertainity with public schools, when Governor McMaster announced the SAFE Grants, it was an answer to prayer. I do not understand how people could be upset that our Governor wanted to give a small portion of relief funds to private education. Parents who choose to send their children to private schools are taxpayers too. Also, there are families who would love to use this program but some private schools begin classes this week! Please remember not every taxpayer uses public education. That does not mean we are against it.
