C.W.’s Story

I am a wife, mother of three, and a registered nurse in Marion, SC. My husband works in Florence and we both have second jobs in order to keep our children at their private school. This school has become family to us, especially since my son (7 yrs) was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year. The students and staff supported us greatly during this time. We had many medical bills to follow. My son is still going to MUSC for follow up scans, but the tumor was removed. Over the summer, my hours and my husband’s hours at our second jobs have been cut due to COVID. My daughter tested positive in early June, and we all had to be quarantined for 14 days. She is fine, however, this also put a strain on us financially. The SAFE Grant would mean not worrying about having to pull my children out of a school they love and that has become family.
