A.M.’s Story

As a mother on my own, every penny counts. I went into our emergency savings to cover the cost of internet and additional equipment to finish the 2019-2020 school year adding to our financial strain. Now, I’m faced with returning to work and making sure my own middle school child has a place to go to school for his education and mental health instead of being home alone 9 hours a day. It’s getting harder to make ends meet and cover growing expenses caused by the pandemic. The expense of an on-campus school is a huge added expense on top of so many other pandemic expenses. An education grant of $6 000 dollars would be the equivalent of one fourth of what I bring home in for a year. The effect something like it would have on my childs life is immeasurable.
